Abstract

In today’s competitive world, purchasing function plays a very critical role in achieving the company’s targets. Supplier selection is an important segment which most of the companies are considering these days for their growth because a good supplier selection makes a significant difference to an organization’s future in order to reduce the cost and increase the outputs, keeping standard of quality of the product. This paper proposes a combined methodology of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and fuzzy technique for order preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (FTOPSIS). Using above as a three-step procedure, first step performed the qualitative performance evaluation using AHP in finding the weights of all the criteria which are then converted into triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs) and finally, fuzzy TOPSIS is applied in finding the final rank of the suppliers. Lastly, an application using proposed methodology is considered for better understanding.
