Making Partnerships Work
  • Srinivasan SunderasanEmail author

A large proportion of electricity on the island of San Cristobal was generated employing diesel. The island, forming part of the Galapagos Islands, was home to about 6,000 people and its fragile ecology and was especially vulnerable to oil spills during fuel transportation. Eighty-five percent of the island was part of the Galapagos National Park; the remaining 15 % was primarily agricultural land and the project was located on highlands outside the National Park area.
