Abstract

Eyelid infection and orbital infection encompass a broad spectrum of diseases. These are commonly encountered by general ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons. Being able to properly diagnose and manage these infections in a timely manner can avoid permanent vision loss and possibly save a patient’s life. When clinicians are faced with such patients, sometimes the exact diagnosis cannot be made just based on clinical examination alone; various laboratory tests and imaging are required. Moreover, surgical interventions such as incision and drainage, biopsies with histopathological analyses, or orbitotomy may be necessary, especially for the atypical cases.
