Monitoring of High-Risk Areas: Dialysis Units



Patients having chronic kidney disease (CKD) are more susceptible to a wide range of infections due to their unique position whereby they have more chances of exposure to various pathogens due to decreased immune defenses and increased interventions especially in patients on hemodialysis. According to Indian CKD registry data, of all the end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients receiving any dialysis, more than 86 % are on maintenance hemodialysis [1].
