Abstract

Although RAD21 is involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks and is essential for mitotic growth, its role in cancer has been unclear. Recently, cleaved products of RAD21 by caspase 3 and 7 become a factor inducing apoptosis. And there are some reports about the association of tumor formation and RAD21. Our current study indicates the RAD21 gene was closely related to the invasion and metastasis of the cancer cells. In addition, although it is known that there are many cleavage products, about those functions, it is not clear. In this study, the relevance of RAD21 cleaved products expression to cell differentiation and carcinogenesis of oral squamous epithelium was clarified using Laser Microdissection and Western Blot analysis.
