In most cases “seismic performance of building structures” means structural behavior of “tall” buildings. Very few articles tell about the seismic performance of “wide” buildings. In this article the real situation of the seismic performance of wide-roof buildings are indicated and discussed based on the author's experiences

Wide-roof buildings are usually used for gymnasiums, event halls or exhibition halls where many people gather for certain activities. Of course they often used for factories or warehouses with a very small population inside. However when they are used for the purposes of public gatherings, the safety of the building is very important.
