Abstract

Some Projects for the construction of Superconductive Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) aroused interest of many fields as well as that from utilities in it recently. For the realization of SMES many problems such as that of supporting structure, that of ac-dc convertor, that of electrical power line, economical issue, as well as that of superconductor. Those problems will be explained in some detail here, after a review on how studies on SMES have been piled up so far, and the present and future trend of its development will also be mentioned.
