Strategies of Early Patient Recruitment: A Community-Based Study
According to the US National Stroke Association Consensus Statement in 1993, almost all hospitals should be able to start treatment within 6h after onset of stroke . Therefore stroke patients, especially candidates for thrombolysis, must present to the neurological department within 4 h after onset of stroke . If in future thrombolysis is accepted as an effective treatment, early presentation of patients will be required for all hospitals including community hospitals in smaller towns and rural areas.
