Abstract
The development of the Western style of thinking to the rationalism and the balance of the rational and the emotional-intuitive elements in the Eastern way of thinking are presented. The formation of modern scientific picture of the world needed the mutual fertilization and the union of the two approaches. The roles of twofold and threefold symmetries in the process are also demonstrated.
