Abstract

In 1911, Brünings15 first described a method of narrowing the glottal chink by paraffin injection in cases of unilateral recurrent nerve paralysis. Despite his success, this method was abandoned for a long time, probably because of the adverse side effects such as paraffinoma. Recently, Arnold (196215, 19642) and many others revived this approach with new synthetic materials such as Teflon, tantalum powder, and silicone (Fig. 6.1).
