Abstract
Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) has been used in the management of arterial bleeding [1–3] and abdominal neoplasms [4–6] since 1975. This modality was first introduced by Yamada et al. in Japan for the treatment of inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in 1978 [7]. It has since completely replaced the earlier modality of choice, intra-arterial one-shot (bolus dose) chemotherapy [8], in this country.
