Abstract

This manuscript is a companion volume to the previously published book named Gastric Anisakiasis in Japan.

It has been accomplished by the efforts of many people such as clinicians, parasitologists, oceanographers, fishery research workers, ichthylogists and pathologists etc. They have described the morphology of anisakid larva and surveyed paratenic host fish and squid caught off the seas of Japan. Epidemiology, clinical symptomatology, pathology, diagnostic methods, fundamental research into specific antigens, monoclonal antibodies, eosinophilia and lymphokine of the parasite were made clear by their research.
