Abstract

Anisakiasis is a common disease in Japan, since people eat raw fish as sushi and sashimi. Sushi is also becoming very popular in the United States and in some European countries with anisakiasis found in these places also, although the frequency is much lower when compared to Japan. The diagnosis of ansakiasis can be made from the history of eating raw fish, in addtion to physical findings, though such a final clinical diagnosis is not easy even with the development of gastrofiberscopical examination of patients.
