Conference paper

Abstract

Due to its limited land resources and rapid economic development, the government of the Republic of Singapore has been conducting extensive reclamation projects in its territorial waters since 1966. By 1982, 3,200 ha of land area has been added by land reclamation, which comprises 5% increase in the total land of the country. In this paper, past and future reclamation projects in the country and the use of reclaimed area have been thoroughly studied. Furthermore, the government’s policies against those projects and their background are also discussed.
