Manufacturing in the Future -Some Topics of IMS-

  • Conference paper

Abstract

The feasibility study phase for the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Program (IMS) has just been completed, and the program is now being reviewed for ratification by the countries and regions that are involved. It is expected that the full program will be ready to start by the beginning of next year, that is, 1995. There are still some uncertain points, however, regarding the understanding of the purpose of the program. It is necessary, therefore, to elucidate the purpose of the program and the possible impact that it may have on manufacturing technology.
