Abstract

A gastric cancer cell line (SGC-7901) was established in our laboratory from the surgically resected metastatic lymphnode of a female patient. SGC-7901 cells induced tumors in the flanks of nude mice after inoculation. The tumor was minced mechanically, and cancer cell suspensions (8×106 cells/ml) were inoculated intraperitoneally into nude mice. After about 20 days, marked abdominal distentions were recognized and cancer cells were collected. The cancer cells were transplantable and were maintained continuously by intraperitoneal injection of the ascites into other nude mice with 100% transplantability.
