We report here a case of esophageal rupture which occurred immediately after gastrectomy. An unusual postoperative course confused the diagnosis. The aim of this report is to heighten awareness of this catastrophic complication and to discuss the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of rupture of the esophagus after surgery.
