Treatment for T4 Cancer of the Intrathoracic Esophagus
Cancer of the intrathoracic esophagus has a very poor prognosis. The prognosis is particularly poor in cases accompanied by tumor invasion into other organs (i.e., T4 cases). T4 cancer of the intrathoracic esophagus is treated by various methods, including surgical resection, and conservative treatment, depending on the organs invaded, the degree of invasion, lymph node metastasis, organ metastasis, and the patient’s general condition. We recently analyzed the results and problems of various therapies for this cancer. In this study, the UICC’s TNM classification of esophageal cancer was employed.
