Transmediastinal Esophagectomy: Comparison of Cardiopulmonary Performance After Anterior Versus Posterior Reconstruction

Abstract

Cardiopulmonary complications remain one of the leading factors in postoperative morbidity and mortality following esophagectomy. To reduce these complications, new surgical methods like limited transmediastinal resection [1], endodissection of the esophagus [2] or transthoracic resection with delayed reconstruction have been evaluated [3].
