Abstract
An exciting new technological advance, Doppler Color Flow Mapping (DCFM) became available for use with transesophageal echocardiography in North America during August, 1987. This new imaging modality combines (by computerized overlay) 2-D anatomic information with doppler blood flow velocity information. This new capability supplements M-mode echocardiography, two dimensional echocardiography and pulsed doppler ultrasound that have been used with transesophageal echocardiography for over six years.
