Noninvasive Monitoring of Tissue Oxygenation by Near Infrared Spectroscopy

Abstract

Several investigator have measured tissue oxygenation with Near Infrared Spectrometry. Hamamatsu Photonics Co. has introduced special technologies in transmission and detection. To transmit the brain tissue a very sensitive light should be used. Photon counting method is used in NIR-1000 to detect the six wave length light through the brain tissue. We measured brain tissue oxygenation by NIR-1000 in two different models, that is compleat brain ischemia and euvolemic hermodilution.
