Calculation of Pulmonary Capillary Pressure from Pulmonary Artery and Venous Wedge Pressures in Children
Pulmonary capillary hydrostatic pressure has been considered to be the major factor of the pulmonary edema formation. Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure has been used to estimate pulmonary capillary hydrostatic pressure. There is difference between left atrial pressure and pulmonary capillary hydrostatic pressure. Under normal conditions, pulmonary venous resistance consists about 40% of total pulmonary resistance. But the ratio of pulmonary artery may vary with pathophysiologic changes.
