Emission Mössbauer Spectra of Superconducting and Nonsuperconducting YBa2Cu3Oy Doped with 57-Co

Abstract

The temperature dependence of the parameters of 57-Co emission Mossbauer spectra reveals remarkable changes near 115 K, 155 K and 240 K. The largest anomaly is observed for the spectral linewidth. The broadening of spectral lines is suggested to be due to the quadrupolar relaxation process with characteristic fluctuation frequencies comparable with hyperfine Mossbauer ones (ω ≈ 107−109 s−1) in the temperature range of 90–130 K. The relation between the observed peculiarities and structural instabilities is discussed.
