Properties of the Cubic Superconductor Ba0.6K0.4BiO3

  • Conference paper

Abstract

AC susceptibility, magnetotransport properties and specific heat of single phase Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 ceramic, with Tc ≃ 31 K, are reported. The complex AC susceptibility, x = x′ + ix″, shows both intragrain and intergrain components characteristic of a granular superconductor, where the positions of the x″ intra- and intergranular peaks are strongly field dependent. From the onset of the resistive superconducting transition in DC magnetic fields we determine values for the slope of the upper critical field, dH c2 /dT = −0.87 T K−1, the zero-temperature critical field, H c2(0) = 18 T, and the coherence length, ξ(0) = 43 Å. Specific heat, C p measurements from 0.5 to 20 K show no evidence of a term that has a linear temperature dependence or an upturn in C p / T.
