Development of CTRON Operating System for Communication Processing

  • Conference paper
TRON Project 1990

Abstract

POPS-100(R1) is a set of OS programs developed based on CTRON interface specifications. This OS features high-performance realtime processing, highly stable long-term online processing service, and improved portability both of application programs and OS program modules.

High performance was achieved by simplifying the software structure and devising original approaches to implementing CTRON-specification interfaces. The program structure enables modification of resources managed by the operating system (e.g., communication protocols and utilizable communication lines) to allow for ready expansion of communication processing services. Moreover, a flexible re-configuration function was developed.

POPS-100(R1) development establishes the basic technology for CTRON implementation and application to communication processing services requiring high throughput. Portability of OS programs is now being verified.
