Abstract

An earlier paper has presented efficient serial algorithms for generating points on circles based on an extension to an original algorithm attributed to Minsky. This paper summarises that work and generalises the ideas to produce an efficient serial algorithm that generates points that lie on arcs of any ellipse or hyperbola. A general theory for the production of points on these origin-centered conics by both serial and parallel algorithms is provided.
