Abstract
The challenge of designing a real-time operating system kernel includes meeting the critical requirements of deterministic behavior, interrupt latency time, speed and overall performance. This paper presents the design of the VRTX32 real-time operating system kernel for the Gmicro family of processors, emphasizing the architectural features of these processors that make them high performance real-time VRTX32 based engines. A possible implementation of the ITRON operation system on the top of the VRTX32 kernel is also presented.
