Design of the CTRON Application Oriented Communication Control Interface

Abstract

CTRON is a set of operating system interface specifications designed for common applications to be applied to nodes on information and communication networks. A lot of effort for standardization of API (Application Program Interface) is being made by some non-profit bodies.

Interface Specification Ver.l of Basic Communication Control (layer 2 – 5 in OSI mode) defined in CTRON Extended OS was published in March 1988. Ver.2 was in July 1989.

Interface Specifications defined as Application-Oriented Communication Control, such as FTAM which is serving file transfer, 1988’s MOTIS/P1/P2 and related P/CASE, was published in July 1989.

This paper briefly discusses the scope, functional model and detailed specifications of CIRON Application-Oriented Communication Control.
