Design of CTRON Fault Tolerance Functions

  • Conference paper
TRON Project 1989

Abstract

CTRON application fields such as switching node, information processing node, and communication processing node require fault tolerance functions to assure high reliability. In particular, switching system and on-line transaction system are typical fault tolerant system in CTRON application fields. Interfaces for fault tolerance functions are one of the major features of CTRON.

This paper discusses the requirements for fault tolerant system in CTRON application fields, the design principles of CTRON fault tolerance functions, an outline of the CTRON fault tolerant interface specifications, and the relation to OAM (Operation, Administration and Maintenance) which is closely related to the fault tolerance functions. This paper also describes remaining subjects for further study of fault tolerance functions concerning transaction processing and speech path control for switching node.
