Abstract

Superconductive electro-magnetic propulsion ship is drawing the world’s attention as an imaginative application of superconductive technology. The Japan Foundation for Shipbuilding Advancement (JAFSA) inaugurated an R&D Committee in June 1985 in order to expedite research into an innovative ship that can be propelled by use of superconductive electro-magnetic thrusters. Our project team is now engaged in construction of a 150-ton testcraft, which will be launched in 1990.
