Preparation of Superconducting Thick Films of Y-Ba-Cu-O by Gas Deposition of Ultrafine Powder

Abstract

Superconducting thick(∿20 μm) films of YBd2Cu3Ox have been successfully made by gas deposition of ultrafine(<0.1 μm) powder of Y, Ba and Cu on MgO substrates. After high temperature anneal, films are superconducting with Tc ∿76 K and ΔTc ∿5 K. Because of excellent sintering properties of ultrafine powder, critical current densities are relatively large (in excess of 10000A/cm2 at 4.2 K) and resistivities at room temperature are about 0.3 mΩcm.
