Reconstruction of Pelvis and Sacrum After Resection of Bulky Tumors
Reconstructive surgery after extended resection of bulky tumors that arise in the pelvis and sacrum is a challenging task in terms of surgical procedure and functional preservation of the lower extremity. Forty patients with such bulky tumors were treated surgically by us from 1975 to 1986. Of the 40 patients, 11 underwent tumor resection and reconstruction, 29 underwent hemipelvectomy or tumor resection only. The surgical results of the 11 patients who underwent reconstructive operations were studied.
