Bioceramics is the name given to a group of ceramics which are used as biomaterials and in biotechnology science. They are classified into two groups according to their bioactivity. Bioinert ceramics are extremely stable in vivo and do not react with the surrounding tissues, while bioactive ceramics dissolve, to a greater or lesser extent, adsorb or crystallize minerals on their surface in vivo, and bind chemically with bone tissue.
