Complex light-source and illumination models

As discussed by Verbeck and Greenberg (1984), a complete intensity calculation must incorporate light-source properties and environmental shadowing effects. An accurate description of physical characteristics of light sources should include three attributes to be modeled:

  1. 1.

    Light-source geometry

  2. 2.

    Emitted spectral distribution

  3. 3.

    Luminous intensity distribution
