Abstract
Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) maintains large-scale computer systems typical of those used by the steel industry. These include the head-office-based sales and production control system and steelworks-based integrated production control systems. This report describes the relationship between the two types of control systems and, mainly with regards to steelworks-based control systems, their necessity — why they should have a large scale — role, structure, development process, and extension in the future.
