Summary
A new Ludwik type cyclic stress-strain equation for type 304 austenitic stainless steel is presented to represent the cyclic stress-strain hysteresis loops. The equation shows good agreement with experimental data. An improved procedure is proposed for the ORNL concept for determining the bi-linear representation of cyclic stress-strain hysteresis loops and the bi-linear representation generated from this equation. Furthermore, the effects of strain rate and/or hold time on cyclic stress-strain behavior at high temperature, which effects are sometimes influenced by dynamic strain aging and/or thermal softening in materials, are incorporated into the equations.
