Further Discussion of the New Lagrangian and Serendipity Degenerated Shell Elements

Summary

This paper is concerned with further discussion of the new Lagrangian and Serendipity shell elements developed by the author. In the formulation of the new elements, an enhanced interpolation is used for the transverse shear strains and the membrane strains to overcome the locking problems. An explanation of locking behaviour and also the location of sampling points for the substitute strain fields is given in the present work.
