Analytical Solution on the 3D Stress Concentration Problem of a Plate with a Circular Hole under Uniform Tension at Infinity

Summary

Using a modified Boussinesq Stress Functions analytical solution was obtained for the stress concentration problem of a plate with a circular hole under uniform tension at infinity. It was confirmed that the derived solution is identical with the solution obtained by Albras in 1957.

Thickness effect on the stress concentration of the plate around the circular hole was studied in detail.

Especially the triaxial state of stresses near the plate surfaces could be made clear.
