Abstract
There are some needs to investegate the influence of compression loads for fatigue crack propagation in practical engineering. For the evaluation of the influence of compression loads, the finite element analyses were made with CT specimen loaded by a compression load in fatigue, the strain and stress variations in the specimen were calculated before and behind the compression load and the contour integral Jint was regarded as a control parameter at crack tip, which can consider the influence of intrinsic strain. Because of the consideration of the influence of intrinsic strain, the Jint can be used to analyse cyclic loading and the influence of compression loads for fatigue crack propagation. The results show that the curve of Jint is raised evidently after the compression load compared with that before the compression load, which expresses that the compression load accelerates the fatigue crack propagation.
