Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explain the development of an interactive geographic and demographic information mapping and management system to support the Engineering, Marketing and Business Research Departments.

The Cartographic Geo-coding System (CAGES) will be based on U.S. Census Bureau GBF/DIME files, as well as Photogrammy, Geodetic and Theodolite input. By using facetization of the continuous U.S. map, polygonal areas, such as cities and counties, can be downloaded on to a local processor for planning and modeling purposes. This technique also allows for rapid searches and identification of graphics attributes. CAGES will also utilize a report writer to allow for non-graphics quantitative analysis.
