Abstract

As Nobel Prize-winning physicist Niels Bohr first said, “Prediction is difficult, especially when it concerns the future.” Anticipating where trends in clinical gastroenterology and research may lead in the new millennium is therefore fraught with danger. However, it is at least apparent that a number of forces will result in a very different field of gastroenterology.
