Nerve Injury Due to Compartment Syndrome
Compartment syndrome refers to a condition in which an increase in the internal pressure of a space or compartment, enclosed by strong fascia, bone, or both, causes muscular or neurological impairment. Volkmann contracture  is a typical compartment syndrome affecting the upper extremities, and anterior tibial syndrome is affects the lower extremities (Fig. 1).
