Development of BIACORE

  • Magnus Malmqvist

Biomolecular interaction analysis (BIA) refers to functional analysis of biomolecules using a biosensor. Recent progress in molecular biology, the human genome project (HUGO) and other large-scale genetic information analysis projects, have contributed to the discovery of many new proteins, and there is a growing demand for analysis of the interaction properties of these novel biomolecules. A detailed quantitative description of the recognition and binding potential between biomolecules will be an important contribution to our understanding of biological reactions and networks.
