Abstract
Besides spina bifida aperta, there have been reports of an occult form of spina bifida, which was accompanied by bladder trouble, foot and toe deformities, gait disturbance, pain in the back and lower limbs, and a lumbosacral tumor. Recently, some authors have pointed out that in either aperta or the occult form of spina bifida, the essential pathology is a tethering state of the spinal cord. They reported this condition as tethered spinal cord syndrome. The purpose of this report is to relate our experiences in dealing with this syndrome.
