Quantum Wires: From Ballistic Conduction to Fluctuations

  • Conference paper
Science and Technology of Mesoscopic Structures

Summary

A review is given of recent numerical studies of quantum transport phenomena in semiconductor quantum structures in magnetic fields. The topics covers the ballistic conduction at quantum point contacts, conductance fluctuations in quantum wires, and the crossover of the quantum Hall effect from two dimension to one dimension.
