Abstract

Mivacurium (MIV), a new short-acting nondepolarizing muscle relaxant, is metabolized by plasmacholinesterase. In children intubating doses of 0.2 mg. kg 1 take 8.4 min to recover 5% and 95% T1 is reached 9.7 min later 1. If neostigmine (NEOS) or edrophonium (EDRO) accelerates MIV recovery, then it may approach the duration of action of succinylcholine.
