Abstract

Economic and application issues motivate the research goals for Coated Conductor scale-up research in the US. Four different processes, and two biaxial texture methods for the metal tape substrate are reviewed. Results of Jc, thickness of superconductor, and length of tape are increasingly promising, but there is as yet no clear leader. The near future will see increased thickness, rate, and length, with Jc > MA/cm2 for all the processes being investigated.
