Summary
Imaging examinations must be done prior to any kind of surgical intervention, including biopsy. Many kinds of imaging examination are now available, but they are not equally important in relation to the tumor surgery. A three-dimensional image of the location of a bone tumor is best obtained by a computed axial tomography (CAT) scan. For soft-tissue tumors, a magnetic resonance (MR) image is the best diagnostic tool. Angiography is still necessary before pelvic surgery.
