Summary
A 13-year-old boy with Ewing’s sarcoma affecting the left iliac wing and the acetabular roof underwent an extensive internal hemipelvectomy and reconstruction with a vascularized foot-ankle joint graft harvested from the ipsilateral lower limb. He became ambulatory with a below-knee prosthesis, and obtained approximately 60° flexion and 5° abduction in the reconstructed hip joint. It was concluded that this procedure is a viable option for the reconstruction of a large defect created by an extensive internal hemipelvectomy which included the hip joint.
