Electrochemical Darzens Synthesis

Abstract

Cathodic reduction of mono-, di- and trichloroacetophenones in the presence of aromatic aldehydes in dimethylformamide with 0.1 M NaClO4 as a supporting electrolyte yields epoxyketones as the main products in a Darzens reaction.
